2026 Syllabus - Strings
Please read the General Rules at the front of the Syllabus as well as those pertaining to the Strings Section. TO AVOID DISQUALIFICATION, please read all rules CAREFULLY. Any questions are to be directed to the Festival office at (647) 282-7335 or preferably email us at admin@peelmusicfestival.ca.
Unauthorized photocopying of copyright music is ILLEGAL. Any use of photocopied material by a competitor or accompanist may result in disqualification.
Please arrange for your own accompanist, if required. A pre-recorded accompaniment will result in adjudication only; no mark will be given.
Unaccompanied music may not be music which would normally be accompanied.
Sonatas do not need to be memorized.
For clarity, the words 'grade' and level' mean the same thing.
Ages are as of December 31, 2025.
Entrants from Grade 1 and up MAY be selected to compete at the Provincial level. In order to be considered for a provincial recommendation you must enter a minimum of two classes, one of which must be a Graded Class.

String Trio
No Piano. Any combination of 3 string instruments. Own Choice of ONE selection. Players are allowed to use their music. Include your TIMING on your entry form.
String Quartet (2 Violins, Viola, Cello)
Players are allowed to use their music. Own Choice of ONE movement. Include your TIMING on the entry.
Trios Including Piano Trios (Violin, Cello and Piano)
Players are allowed to use their music. Own Choice of ONE movement. Include TIMING on the entry.
String Chamber Music Ensemble
Any ensemble of up to 6 players (including at least one string instrument) excluding string trios, trios, quartets and piano trios. Own choice of ONE work or ONE movement of a multi-movement work. Players may use their music. Maximum time 6 minutes. You MUST include TIMING on your entry form.
