Now in its 98th year, Peel Music Festival continues to be one of Canada’s largest independent annual music festivals. Begun in 1927 in Brampton by W.E. Capps, a local elementary school music teacher, the festival was first sponsored by the Department of Agriculture as a venue for local Junior Farmer’s choirs. The scope of the Festival has grown substantially in the ensuing years.
In addition to offering competitive adjudication of the highest professional standard to young performers on a variety of instruments including brass, woodwinds, strings, classical guitar, and piano, the festival also offers classes for choirs, ensembles and for solo performers in voice, musical theatre and speech arts. By engaging top professional adjudicators, the festival continues to encourage the highest standards in both performance and teaching.
Peel Music is a not-for-profit organization, run by a group of dedicated volunteers. If you would like to donate for this good cause, visit our Donation page.
The Peel Music Festival aspires to unite and enrich the communities in Peel Region by providing a platform for the competitive performance of music and speech arts.
Established and maintained by local teachers, the Festival strives to create and nurture an appreciation for these arts by providing students with further education through exposure to professional adjudication and performances by their peers.
The Peel Music Festival seeks to foster the values of hard work, commitment, excellence and fulfillment throughout the artistic journey.
